Kitesurfing
To be a good kitesurfer, you have to be a good kite flyer!  Learn to master the art of this popular watersport, or at least try to, with lessons offered at Cape Sports Centre in Langebaan.  Shark Bay, just a hop and a skip from The Farmhouse Hotel, is a world renowned kitesurfing spot, and is also one of the most beautiful places on the lagoon.

Hobie Cat
Drum Africa runs the only Hobie Cat Sailing school in South Africa from the Cape Sport Centre in Langebaan.  Whether you are a beginner, at intermediate level or wanting to get up to regatta level, we can suit your requirements. We also charter a Hobie 14 and 16, so if you already know how to sail and want to take a hobie for a spin, contact us.

Sailing
Sail Due South (cc), is a South African sail training school with its main base in Langebaan on the West Coast, and a satellite school at the Vaal Dam.

We offer RYA and SAS approved and recognized sailing courses which start from a two days ‘Start Yachting Course’ and go up to the ‘Yachtmaster Ocean’ qualification. We work hand in hand with other maritime institutes to offer the more advanced sailors further studies for Officer of the Watch and higher credentials.

Windsurfing
Windsurfing on the Langebaan lagoon is all about experiencing clear waters and blue skies, adrenaline and pure ecstasy.  With its flat water and wind conditions, Langebaan attracts windsurfing enthusiasts from all over the world and is internationally recognised as a top boardsailing spot. 

Boating
The Farmhouse Hotel is perfect for boat owners, as the Langebaan Yacht Club is situated just 200m from the hotel. The boat yard is situated right next to the hotel, walled and secured by a locked gate.
The use of the boat yard is complimentary during stay for overnight guests.

Kayaking
With only the sound of the birds and the water lapping against your craft, kayaking is a serene experience of nature. Take a morning spin for a fresh start to the day and watch seals with their morning catch, as you paddle out onto the azure waters of the lagoon. Drop in at Flaming Jo’s, tucked away on the West Coast National Park and spend the day kayaking on a guided tour, where you can fall into a hammock after paddling and sip sundowners around the camp fire. In Spring, you might catch a glimpse of a whale surfacing or be delighted by a school of dolphins, playing in your small wake.
