West Coast National Park

Just before the Fossil Park off the R27 highway, you will come across the West Coast National park on the Langebaan Lagoon. It is situated inland from Saldanha Bay harbour. This makes it a haven for seabirds and marine life, as well as a dazzling array of flowers.

There are:
• Islands providing sanctuary for the seabirds.
• Salt marshes fill with wader birds, passing through from the northern hemisphere.
• You may spot an antelope in the idyllic Potsberg.

Feast your eyes on the carpets of flowers in spring. Summers are dry, with dreamy mists in the mornings. Rainy season lasts from May till August.
